Desmodus rotundus - Vampiro común - Common Vampire Bat

Los chimbilacos, como se conocen en el Pacífico colombiano, son animales hematófogos, es decir, que se alimentan de sangre. Salen de noche a buscar a sus presas mamíferas y durante el día se refugian en cuevas y troncos huecos. O en nuestro clóset, como este de la foto.

Chimbilacos, as they are called on Colombia’s Pacific Coast, are bloodsucking animals, which means they feed on blood. They go out at night to look for mammals to prey on, and during the day they stay in caves and hollow tree trunks. Or in our closet, such as this one in the picture.
